It is with a heavy heart I wanted you to know that lifelong cyclist and advocate, mentor to many as Coach Lawrence, died on Monday evening in his sleep in Tucson AZ. His last hours I was in his company and he was in good spirits looking forward to future endeavors including track riding on Tucson's velodrome, which we visited twice in the 2 days he was in Tucson. His presence will be felt by many, including myself.

Thanks for letting us know this sorrowful news and for the photos you posted.

At the annual BIKES Club Holiday party tonight, we held a moment of silence in Lawrence's honor and some club members shared some great remembrances of Lawrence. He was truly an inspiration and had a great positive influence on many club members.

One thing I didn't know was his membership in the Wheelsport Cycling Team. When I was in high school and college, I worked summers and after-school hours at Wheelsport, Ltd. in Bellevue, the local bike shop which was the originator and sponsor of Wheelsport Cycling Team. That was in the mid '70s and early '80s. For a few years, I raced on the team as a junior. Alas, I wasn't very good and I would have benefited from a coach like Lawrence.

He will be missed by many, of that there is no doubt.
