We all like to breath good, clean air, especially when riding our bikes. Here in the NorthWest, we usually have good, clean air, but in recent years smoke from forest fires has become a new normal for the summer & autumn months.
I've found weather forecasts don't include much in the way of detailed air quality info. If a map is shown, it doesn't stay on the screen long enough for me to comprehend the info shown. Where does that info come from?
After a short search I discovered an app for smartphones called "AirNow" from our US EPA which gets some of its info from our local Puget Sound Clean Air Agency. The app has lots of favorable features including:
- easy to use.
- easy to understand.
- suitable for all ages.
- it's free.
- it's available now in the Play Store for Androids. I suspect Apple has one too.
