Sound Transit’s contractor closed a section of trail between 52nd Ave W and 44th Ave W in July 2021 to continue work for the Lynnwood Link Extension. A temporary trail will open beginning Sunday, May 1, removing the detour that has been in place for Interurban Trail users for the past 10 months. Users will access a temporary trail connection constructed at the north end of the closed trail section, near 44th Ave W and the Lynnwood Transit Center, while construction at the future Lynnwood City Center light rail station site continues. Please see the attached notice for details about these changes.
In addition, Sound Transit staff will be on site the morning of Sunday, May 1 to celebrate the reconnection of the trail. They will provide light refreshments to trail users and share construction updates about the Lynwood Link Extension project, including the Lynnwood City Center light rail station and permanent multi-use trail. They would love to see community walking or rolling through on Sunday, May 1! Please spread the message about the re-opening.
