Verlot Ranger Station to Big Four Ice Caves Picnic Area

Thursday, October 3rd - Meet @ 9:45 for a 10:00 a.m. roll out in the parking area across from the ranger station.

It will be a beautiful fall day for riding up to the Big Four Ice Caves picnic area.  Rolling hills, nothing too steep (A and B terrain).  30 mile round trip, steady pace (12-14 mph on flats) although I consider this to be a self-paced ride. We will re-group as needed.  Faster riders can charge ahead as they like.

Car traffic is GENERALLY pretty light this time of year, but there is some traffic on these two lane, little or no shoulder roads in a rural area.

Bring a picnic lunch, snacks and plenty of water!  The restrooms at the ranger station were closed the last time we were there, but there is a restroom less than 1/4 mile from the parking area and we will make a pit stop there on our way.

Weather may be quite cool in the morning and warming in the afternoon, so layering is recommended.  Remember there is no cell phone service in that area.

Unexpected change in forecast or rain the morning of the ride will cancel.  Check ride updates the morning of if in doubt!  I expect we will be back to the cars between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m., depending on how often and how long we stop.
