Three Ferries - Thursday, Aug 22

Ride leader Debby Grant, 206 353-0249, debby@jaygrant.com

Meet at Smith Cove/Palisades Restaurant at 8:15am for prompt departure at 8:30am. We'll ride on off-road bike trail and on-street and over the West Seattle bridge to the Fauntleroy Ferry terminal (approximately 17 miles) in West Seattle where we'll board the 10:25am ferry to Southworth.  From Southworth we'll ride on-street to Port Orchard, enjoying mostly quiet and scenic waterfront roads (about 14 miles).  Pack food for a picnic lunch break in Port Orchard before boarding the foot ferry to Bremerton.  From Bremerton we'll board the Kitsap Transit Fast Ferry to Seattle (target ferry time is 3:05pm - see important Fast Ferry information below).  From Pier 50 we ride and return to Smith Cove along the downtown waterfront, retracing part of our morning route (about 5 miles).

Approximately 36 miles, Steady pace (12-14 mph), A, B and C terrain.  Adverse weather conditions may cancel this ride.  The ride leader will decide either the night before or early on day-of the ride and post in Ride Updates and/or via email notification.  There is a restroom about two miles after the start (no restroom at the start).

Kitsap Fast Ferry restricts bicycles to ones that safely fit in the racks.  Please read and understand the information below and if you have concerns about your bike not fitting then this may not be a suitable ride for you and your bike.

This is from the ferry website:

Bicycles are welcome aboard on a first-come first-served basis. Crews will direct passengers on secure placement of their bikes in one of the 12 exterior racks. The current design of the existing bike rack (each with inside openings of 2.25") makes it impossible to safely secure bikes with fenders, disc brakes, or balloon tires. Bicycles that do not fit safely in the bike rack will not be allowed on the vessel. If you would like to test the bike rack and see if your bicycle fits, you may do so using the bike testing rack located on the Bremerton Dock gangway.

Route is something like this (note water crossing): Three Ferries
