Cross Kirkland (gravel) and 520 Trail from Logboom Park

Tuesday, July 9th, 9:30 a.m. @Logboom Park

Meet about 9:15 to prepare for a 9:30 rollout from Logboom Park on a 29 mile variation of our Top of the Lake ride.  The route will go through a few of the back roads of Kirkland in the Juanita area before accessing the Cross Kirkland Corridor Trail near Totem Lake.   About six or seven miles or so of hard pack gravel before we get on the 520 Trail at the south end of Kirkland and head back on the Burke Gilman Trail.

The gravel stretch is fairly flat, hard pack, with a few busy road crossings along the way.  Unless you have super thin "racing" type tires, you shouldn't have any problems on the gravel, but that being said, if you are uncomfortable on gravel, maybe this isn't the ride for you.

This ride is steady pace - 12-14 mph on flats.  We'll be a bit slower on the gravel sections and uphill.  Bathrooms at the start and mid-point near the Google campus in Kirkland, where we will stop for a longer break.  A - B and some C terrain along the 520 trail.  Regroups as needed for your leader to catch up with everyone. ;-)

Optional lunch break at Metro Market along the trail.  Worsening forecast or weather will postpone this ride.  Bring plenty of water and snacks.  Early start (9:30!) to avoid some of the mid-day heat and crowds.   The parking lot at Logboom isn't usually full, but if so, park along the access road leading into the park (175th Street) and meet at the restroom area.
