Meet at 9:45 AM for a 10:00 AM roll out at Verlot Public Service Center on Mountain Loop Highway east of Granite Falls. Restrooms usually open.
Out and back ride on Mountain Loop Highway from the Verlot Public Service Center to Barlow Pass (~mile 19), then 4 miles of gravel / dirt / rustic trail to the old mining town of Monte Cristo. Some of the trail / road (8 miles round trip) between Barlow Pass and Monte Cristo is in a rustic condition and may require you to walk your bike in some places and cross creeks on foot (wet feet). We will stop for photos along the way. Bikes and tires must be gravel / dirt compatible - bring your own spare tubes, pump, and repair kit. We will return the same way with a picnic lunch stop at Big 4 Picnic Area (~mile 33). Bring your own water, snacks, and picnic lunch. There are no commercial services on this route!
