Meet at 8:45 AM for a 9:00 AM roll out at Verlot Public Service Center on Mountain Loop Highway east of Granite Falls. Restrooms usually open.
This is an out and back ride on paved Mountain Loop Highway that climbs gently to Barlow Pass. We'll take a break at Big 4 Ice Caves picnic area on the way up at about mile 15, then continue on to the top of the pass for another 5 or 6 miles. The return reward is a nice mostly downhill run. We may meet the Moderate pace group at the picnic area on their return from the top.
Bring your own water and snacks or picnic lunch. There are no services on this route!
COVID conditions are still with us, please plan accordingly and bring your own mask.
About 40 miles, A & B terrain with 1,700 feet of elevation gain, frequent regroups.
This is listed as a Steady pace (12-14 mph) but everyone goes at his or her own pace when climbing and descending.
