Big Four Training Ride

  • 9 a.m. from Granite Fall School District parking lot or 9 at the Verlot Ranger Station
TRThree pace and distance options for riding the Mountain Loop Highway past Granite Falls. 50-60 mile riders going steady or moderate pace (12-14 mph or 14-16 mph) depart at 9 a.m. from Granite Fall School District parking lot on Alder Ave. Social-pace riders (10-12 mph) meet at 9 at the Verlot Ranger Station for a 40-50 mile ride with Gery. If you want to add an additional 20 miles for 80 total, contact Kristin and she'll meet you in Machias at 8 a.m. Bring your own lunch for the picnic area at Big Four Ice Caves and turnaround there or add 10 miles by continuing to Barlow Pass. Directions to start: take Hwy 92 to Granite Falls, where it becomes Stanley Street. Turn left on Alder Ave, and school lot is on the right side, or continue 10 miles to Verlot Ranger Station on the left side of the Mountain Loop HIghway. For restrooms and sandwich-buying, stop ahead of time at the Granite Falls Red Apple, one block north of the 4-way stop on Granite Ave. Ride Leaders Kristin 425-923-7868, Debby and Gery 469-358-2887.
